Tremblay on her exhibition: "In this body of work, I started with a blank canvas and no visual referent. While applying the first layer of colors, textures, and lines, I sometimes work with vague, internal references to external forms, such as tide pools or other natural elements, but often begin simply with colors and designs that are visually appealing. This creates an aesthetic problem on the canvas as well as serving as a framework for the rest of the painting, which must be designed around what has already been put down. The finished piece sometimes looks nothing like the original start to the painting."
Exhibition curated by Adriana Hammond.
